Parapet Roof Penetration Thermal Bridging Solution

The thermal envelope and roof insulation are both parts of the building envelope that are broken up by penetrations like davits, anchors, and supports for dunnage. These interface features often form a thermal bridge and point transmittance when coupled to internal trusses or structural components (heat flow). In some places, the roof’s R value might be decreased by up to 40%.

ARMATHERM™
500 Benefits

  • Essential for continuous insulation
  • Great for any roof penetration application
  • Custom thicknesses available to suit roof insulation
  • Pads cut and drilled for ease of installation

Parapet Roof Penetration Thermal Break

A structural thermal break at these points will raise the roof assembly’s U value and shield the structural connection from potential condensation issues. In order to create continuous insulation, Armatherm™ FRR and 500 series thermal break materials can transmit the loading conditions at these places while drastically lowering heat flow. It is possible to achieve an 80% improvement in heat loss.
