Armatherm™ 500 Structural Thermal Break Material

(Thermal Insulation Material – TIM)

Limiting heat movement inside a building’s thermal envelope lowers energy use and also lowers the risk of condensation problems. Thermal bridging in building envelope connections is greatly lessened using Armatherm™ 500 thermal break material (TIM).

A high strength, thermoset polyurethane that is produced in a variety of densities is Armatherm™ 500 structural thermal break material.

High loads can be supported using Armatherm™ 500 thermal break material, which is available in four grades of material with varying compressive strength capabilities.

Due to their closed cell construction, the Armatherm™ 500 thermal insulation blocks do not absorb water and have very little creep under load. As a result, there is less energy lost through thermal bridging within building exterior connections. Therefore, heat movement, energy use, and potentially hazardous condensation problems are all reduced.

Armatherm™ 500 is offered in the following thicknesses: 5mm, 10mm, 12mm, 15mm, 20mm, 25mm, and 50mm. To reach the appropriate U value and thickness parameters, the high strength polyurethane material sheets can be easily laminated. It can be used everywhere there is a penetration or transition exit through the building envelope and as it is incredibly dynamic. Where a thermal bridge exists, it is simply cut and drilled on the spot if necessary. The most popular specs are Armatherm™ 500-320 and Armatherm™ 500-490.

Armatherm™ 500 is a great option for cold storage facilities to keep the subgrade from freezing, as well as for preventing thermal bridging in buildings to reduce heat loss. Armatherm™ 500 is positioned beneath the base of the column to prevent the transfer of cold temperatures into the ground, which is important for the storage of frozen foods.

What our clients
think about us

“I can always trust that ARMATHERM will deliver a reliable product on time. Their deep knowledge of the industry allows them to aid in project planning and design. ARMATHERM goes out of their way to help their customers get the service they need.”

Andrew Sarlo, Cives Steel Co.

“The team is always very helpful and persistent in delivering the best service possible for the customer and the project. At one point to went the extent of renting a U-Haul to get the product down to Raleigh when the carrier dropped the ball half way down from Mass. Excited for more opportunities ahead!”

James Clark, White Cap

“Dirigo Drywall can count on Armatherm to deliver quality thermal break products for our building projects that increase the building’s energy efficiency and help us meet energy compliance goals.”

Nathan P. Croteau, LEED-AP

“Armatherm was very accommodating with their customer service team in the release and delivery of materials to meet the schedule of the project. They also provided the necessary engineering information for us to ensure the product performed as required. Overall it was a smooth experience from Design to P.O. to Installation.”

Andrew Boesch, Eastern Exterior Wall Systems

“ARMATHERM has a commitment to producing quality products and excellent customer service that is second to none in their industry.  They are extremely easy to work with and hold true to their quoted lead times. The Steel Supply Company can count on ARMATHERM to deliver quality thermal break products for our building projects that increase the building’s energy efficiency and help us meet energy compliance goals.”

Frankie, The Steel Supply Company

“The quote came quick, short lead time/fast delivery, no troubles with installation, great technical support & most important – competitive pricing! We are also happy to support a local Massachusetts business!”

Pierre Gagnon, New England Finish Systems

“Armatherm products have been useful in addressing thermal bridging challenges in our projects. Armatherm products insulate many of the difficult structural thermal bridging details GPC Green Builders often encounter. The quoting is quick, the products are shipped on time, and the customer service is great.”

Ben Bogie, BPC Green Builders

“We are very happy with your service and dedication to your customers. I have found through the years your lead times are always in line with our requirements. I have talked to the shop and field and they have no issues with your product or installation. Keep up the good work.”

Paul Rosenthal,Novel Iron Works

“We utilized Armatherm’s thermal breaks to interrupt thermal bridges in several locations. From shelf angles, to dunnage, to door thresholds, Armatherm products offered the right balance of thermal performance and strength, and were simple to coordinate with our exterior wall details.”

As they need structural framing for support, places like roof to wall junctions and parapets require thermal bridging. The R value can be increased by as much as 30% by adding thermal break materials behind the parapet that connects the facade and roof insulation. A thermal break can also be constructed inside the building envelope at roof penetration places where structural elements are supported.

In a conventional building, slab insulation is placed at the base of columns that run the length of the building envelope. A thermal break can be used to avoid cold bridges. Armatherm 500 is the ideal option for load supporting thermal break requirements because of its low creep under load and strong strength.

The foundations of a building and the transition from a slab on grade to a foundation wall are other locations where thermal bridges may form. An ArmathermTM 500 series thermal insulation block, which supports extraordinarily high loads of up to 300N/mm2, can significantly reduce energy loss. test.
